Gema has installed another solution into a leading filtration company as Finishing found out Camfil APC has opened a new 3,700-square-metre manufacturing facility that has been strategically sited in the UK to meet the growing demand for our Camfil APC dust collection equipment across Europe. The investment builds further on recent sales and marketing initiatives to migrate and introduce Camfil’s APC product line in Europe from a new and larger base. This modern factory in Heywood, part of Camfil UK’s operations, will drastically reduce lead times for a very quick turnaround on orders for European customers. Camfil APC is now well equipped and positioned for further growth in the European market, says Lee Morgan, president of Camfil APC pictured right with Leon Hogg, head of sales – Gema UK (left).

Camfil APC, is a growing business for Camfil and specialises in advanced collectors to clean dust and fumes in facilities for food production, metalworking, shot blasting, laser and plasma cutting, thermal spray, pharmaceutical manufacturing, mining and woodworking, amongst other processes. Flagship products include the Farr Gold Series of advanced dust collection equipment and the HemiPleat line of low-energy, long-life Gold Cone dust collector filters.

The Challenge

  • Improve the high standard of product finish across the Camfil APC range
  • Improve efficiencies in terms of processes, outputs and materials
  • Increase line speed to allow for increasing volumes to meet increased customer demands

As part of the project Gema worked closely with Camfil APC to specify the ultimate in filtration control and performance. The system benefits from the market leading Camfil APC Gold Cone filtration system, this guarantees maintained performance at the lowest running costs.

The exclusive and patented Gold Cone in the centre of the cartridge offers benefits unavailable from any competitive filter cartridges. Expanded capacity due to the patented inner cone of filtration media. The inner cone provides uniform dispersion of back-pulsed air and opens up more usable space for airflow in the dust collector. Camfil APC's PolyTech media is the most advanced pulse-cleaned media ever made.

All Camfil APC filter media offerings deliver a minimum of 99.999% separation efficiency down to 0.5 micron by weight. Continuous double seal gaskets give added insurance against leaks. No other filter design gives you a double seal barrier. HemiPleat filter technology ensures uniform pleat spacing with synthetic beads that hold the pleats of the filter cartridge wide open.

Gema will be offering the Farr Gold Series filtration systems as part of the standard range and have now commissioned several projects using the Gold Cone technology.

The booth system’s 2300mm² work envelope is one of the largest Gema installations within the UK, the system is designed to accommodate the large filter housing fabrications as shown. The latest generation CM30 automation system optimises the coating processes, delivering repeatable results with minimal operator involvement. The product recognition system identifies the height and width of the component to be coated, this automatically positions the gun systems and optimises the target distance between the product and the electrostatic powder guns.  Combining this intelligent interface with the comprehensive training program Camfil APC started full production within hours of plant commissioning.
